Veterinary Research

The ultimate goal of the research at The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University is to produce knowledge that benefit   for agriculture and veterinary communities In Thailand. Recently  all research activities are under administration of the newly established Center of Research and Service which is supervised byThe Associated Dean for Research Affair.The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University has a broad scope of the research which can be categorized into five research clusters including Food Safety, Zoonosis and Emerging diseases, Advanced Biotechnology and Conservation Sciences, Companion Animal Sciences, and Food Animal Clinical Sciences.  In addition, there are four excellent centers, The Stem Cell and Cancer, The Duck Heath Science The GIS for Veterinary Medicine, The Herbal Medicine, and The Veterinary Epidemiology . Ongoing research projects that have been achieved the recognition at national levels including the cryopreservation of the Thai elephant semen. The research works on Avian Influenza and Swine Health Management are the influence of both research communities and also veterinarians.

The research in food safety is to develop efficient methods and diagnostic kits to ensure food safety Studies focus on patterns  of food pathogen contamination  such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella during  process of food production and mycotoxin contamination are also focused.  The climate changes have been the factor that leads to the emerge of new zoonosis and infectious diseases  in livestock. The researchers in the cluster for zoonosis and emerging diseases work hard to acquire new information for developing new strategies for the disease prevention.  The  development  of biotechnology in conservation in wildlife  such as marine turtles, Thai elephants, sarus cranes  is  one of the research mission for the researchers  in  the Cluster for  Advanced Biotechnology and Conservation. The establishment of sperm banking and the use of molecular technique in identify  paternal and maternal relationships  in dogs have been supported by His Majesty  the King. The researches in Small and Food animal clinical sciences encompass vast variety of studies  from development of new medical equipments, the nutritional management  in companion and food animals and the use of stem cells in cell therapy.

We have collaborative projects with both Government Offices including the Department of livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, The National Institute of Animal Heath and also cross-university collaborations.
