📜 Department history

The Department of Pharmacology is a unit within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established as the university's fifth faculty, transferred from the University of Medical Sciences under the Ministry of Public Health, in 1954, in accordance with the Kasetsart University Act (No. 5) B.E. 2497 (enacted on 20 December and published in the Royal Gazette, Volume 71, Part 86, on 28 December 1954). In 1970, the faculty relocated to a building on Phahonyothin Road near the National Research Council of Thailand, with the department originally situated on the 3rd floor of the Chakrabhichai Ronnarongsongkram Building. In 1995, the department moved to the 5th floor of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine's teaching and laboratory building, sharing laboratory space with the Department of Physiology on the 4th floor of the same building.

Roles and responsibilities

Teaching and curriculum

Covers the full body of pharmacological knowledge, including mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology.

Aims to build clinical and analytical skills so students can apply correct drug-use principles in line with veterinary professional standards.

Research and academic services

Studies bioactive compounds and environmental toxicology to develop treatments suited to Thailand's context.
